Balihow – In an unexpected turn of events, amidst swirling rumors of Apple’s impending entry into the foldable phone market, the tech giant seemingly stumbled, posting an advertisement for a competitor’s product on its official account. The incident unfolded on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo.

Apple’s official Weibo account inadvertently shared a video advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung’s latest foldable phone which was globally released in early July.

The video was briefly live before being promptly removed by the Apple Support account.

However, the fleeting moment was captured by the renowned leaker @UniverseIce, who quickly disseminated it across social media.

The shared clip rapidly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions from netizens. While some found the gaffe amusing, others questioned whether the error was a deliberate act by Apple.

The mishap is speculated to have occurred due to Apple and Samsung potentially utilizing the same advertising agency in China.

Consequently, it’s hypothesized that a staff member from the agency mistakenly uploaded Samsung’s ad material to Apple’s account, leading to the oversight.

Another theory suggests the possibility of a rogue individual infiltrating the account and intentionally posting the Samsung video on Apple’s platform.

However, there is no concrete evidence to substantiate these claims. As of Friday, August 1, 2025, the Apple Support account has yet to issue an official statement addressing the incident, as reported by KompasTekno citing Wccftech.

The timing of this accidental post is particularly ironic, coinciding with reports that Apple is aggressively developing its first foldable iPhone.

This highly anticipated device, rumored to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 line next year, is predicted to disrupt the foldable phone industry, currently dominated by Samsung.

Samsung recently reinforced its position with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 in early July. Both phones have garnered significant attention from tech enthusiasts, thanks to their innovative designs and features.

The rivalry between the two tech behemoths is nothing new. Apple and Samsung have consistently competed to introduce groundbreaking products in recent years.

However, the arrival of the foldable iPhone is expected to mark a new chapter in the Apple-Samsung rivalry, particularly in the burgeoning foldable phone market.

The foldable iPhone is rumored to be priced at $1,999 (approximately Rp 33 million). Meanwhile, the highest-end variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (16 GB / 1TB) retails for around Rp 35 million.
