Disney World Travel Tips – Disney World is one of the most popular destinations in the world, attracting millions of visitors each year. With its magical atmosphere, thrilling rides, and endless entertainment options, it’s easy to see why.
However, a trip to Disney World can also be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. That’s why we’ve put together this guide of Disney World travel tips to help you make the most of your magical vacation.
Disney World Travel Tips
Use secret menus
Many of our beloved Disney World restaurants, such as Nomad Lounge, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, and Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, have secret items not listed on their published menus.
Additionally, other restaurants throughout Walt Disney World may also offer off-menu items. While you may think that these secret items may come with a steep price, that’s not always the case. In fact, these hidden menus can sometimes save you money.
Dine at lounges rather than full-service restaurants.
Achieving a successful and enjoyable Disney World trip requires finding the right balance between making the most of your park time and taking enough breaks to remember that you’re actually on vacation. While a leisurely meal at one of the many table-service restaurants can be relaxing, they can also come with a high price tag.
To avoid spending too much on expensive meals, consider opting for a relaxed lunch or dinner at one of the many atmospheric lounges scattered throughout Disney World.
These lounges still offer a comfortable seating experience with a server, but you can order from a menu of lighter bites and creative cocktails at a more affordable price point.
Disney World Travel Tips – Make your own DIY souvenirs
Cast Members at Disney World resorts responsible for recreation organize various free daily activities, such as poolside trivia, evening s’mores around the campfire, and movies under the stars. Additionally, they offer paid activities that allow you to create unique and fun souvenirs, like tie-dyed Mickey T-shirts.
For instance, at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you can make your own kukui nut lei using colored nuts and string for $15 for kids and $20 for adults. Some Disney World resorts also have Community Halls where guests can enjoy free movies, games, and craft-making or participate in activities for a small fee.
Get those coveted restaurant reservations
Disney World dining reservations can be booked 60 days in advance, but if you are staying at a Disney World property and have linked your booking in the My Disney Experience app, you can make reservations 60 days plus the length of your stay in advance.
This means that if you are staying for five days, you can book some meals up to 65 days before your arrival. With this longer booking window, you have a better chance of securing reservations at popular restaurants that tend to fill up quickly, sometimes even before the 60-day mark.
Some of these highly coveted reservations include Cinderella’s Royal Table, Space 220 Restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera, Oga’s Cantina, ‘Ohana, and the new Roundup Rodeo BBQ venue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Keep in mind that guests can cancel their reservations up to two hours before the scheduled time, so it’s worth checking periodically for any last-minute openings.
Disney World Travel Tips – Get free iced water
It is always wise to carry a refillable water bottle with you when visiting the Disney parks. However, if you need water on the go, you can request a complimentary cup of ice water at any quick-service location that dispenses fountain drinks.
Usually, a Disney Cast Member is stationed at the entrance checking for mobile order return notifications. You can inform them that you would like a cup of iced water and they will direct you to a designated pick-up counter where you can collect it.
