Vacations are now a staple for travelers looking to unwind and recharge. Beyond simple sightseeing, many vacationers are now incorporating physical activities into their getaways.
One trending activity is padel, a racquet sport experiencing a surge in popularity. Padel courts are popping up all over Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
Notably, some hotels in Bali are even adding padel courts to cater to guests keen on engaging in this sport.
While combining vacation with padel can be enjoyable, travelers should be aware of potential injuries, especially without proper caution. Injuries like knee pain may necessitate treatment and therapy.
Addressing this concern, OMRON Healthcare Indonesia has introduced the OMRON Knee TENS HV-F710, a wireless Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device specifically designed to alleviate knee pain stemming from osteoarthritis (OA) and other musculoskeletal disorders.
“At OMRON, we believe everyone deserves to live without the limitations of chronic pain. The launch of the OMRON Knee TENS HV-F710 is a concrete step in supporting our global ‘Going for Zero’ vision – zero limitations in daily activities due to health issues,” said Tomoaki Watanabe, Director of OMRON Healthcare Indonesia.
OMRON’s approach involves TENS technology, which works by blocking pain signals to the brain, promoting blood circulation, and relaxing muscles.
“This allows it to be easily integrated into daily routines for sustained pain relief,” added Tomoaki Watanabe.
This technology has undergone clinical trials, demonstrating its ability to reduce pain without pharmacological side effects. For instance, a 2019 study published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by Shimoura et al. showed that TENS helped reduce knee pain and increase walking distance in individuals with mild OA.
Another study by Iijima et al. (2020) in Scientific Reports found that TENS therapy helped users ascend and descend stairs more quickly compared to those using a placebo. A more recent study in 2022 by Lawson et al. in the European Journal of Pain indicated that using TENS during daily activities, such as climbing stairs or rising from a seated position, can help reduce pain in mild to moderate knee OA.
