Balihow – Tony McCarroll, the drummer and co-founder of Oasis back in 1991, is famously known for his departure from the band in 1995, not even a year after Oasis dropped their debut album, Definitely Maybe.

At the heart of the matter was a falling out with Noel Gallagher.

Their constant clashes were well-documented in McCarroll’s book, “Oasis The Truth: My Life As Oasis’s Drummer,” offering his perspective on the events.

In a recent interview with The Sun during a fan event at Red Studios in North Shields, Tony shed light on the incident he believes led to his dismissal.

“There was an incident in Paris. I was in the room next to Noel’s hotel room, unbeknownst to me,” he revealed.

“I had a row with a girl who was with me,” he continued.

The next day during the sound check, Noel confronted him in front of everyone.

“In front of everyone, he said, ‘You keep me up again, you’re getting sacked, mate,'” Tony recounted.

“Probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but I instantly went, ‘You’re not talking to me like that again, no chance’. A few weeks later I got the P45,” he explained, referring to his termination papers.

Despite the argument leading to his exit from the band, Tony maintains he has no regrets about standing up for himself.

“What kind of man would I have been if I didn’t defend myself?” Tony stated.

He believes that people often bluster when they feel threatened. He never seriously thought his words would lead to his departure.

“Everyone is threatened every day, but it’s just hot air,” Tony said.

“I never took it as seriously as losing my position in the band,” he added.

Since his dismissal, he hasn’t spoken to Noel, but admits he would happily reconcile now.

“Would I sit down and have a cup of tea, Rich Tea, with Noel, and go, ‘What happened, mate?’. I would do it,” Tony expressed.

Tony played on Oasis’s debut album Definitely Maybe and the singles “Whatever” and “Some Might Say.”

Before his exit from Oasis in 1995, Tony sued the band over royalties.

In the lawsuit, McCarroll eventually reached an agreement, receiving an out-of-court settlement of £550,000 (approximately Rp 9.9 billion) and relinquishing all future royalty claims.
